Energy Production and Reduction
Would you like to gain some control over your usage and expenditure?
Producing your own renewable energy is a great way to go to gain some control over your energy usage and needs. It is not simply a matter of installing a renewable energy system at your home but it is just as important to look at reducing your usage as well as producing your own.
The main systems available for domestic use are Solar PV, Wind or Ceramic fuel cells. The latter being cost prohibitive at present for most home owners but in the coming years should become more affordable.
Solar PV systems have fallen greatly in price over the past couple of years so are very affordable for all home owners. Wind powered systems are good for coastal and high wind flow areas with not enough sun or shading issues.
STC’s or small scale techonology certificates do help to reduce the cost of buying a system with the point of sale discounts available.
The TFIT feed-in Tariff in Victoria has been Transitional at 25c with up to an additional 8c paid by the larger Electricity providers, making it 31c to 33c payable for all electricity fed into the grid.
This has now been dropped to 8c form 30th September 2012 for all electricity fed into the grid but will apply to all renewable energy systems and not just solar.
Renewable energy is still a good way to go as you can produce your own electricity and greatly reduce or eliminate your electricity bills entirely.
With a combination of reduction and production you can go a long way to winning the war on power bills.
